Most wedding professionals would not recommend planning a wedding from across the country, but that’s not to say it can’t work—Anne managed to plan her West Seattle wedding from Boston with the help of her mom and sister who were based in the Seattle area. The bridesmaids’ silver beaded navy shift dresses and delicate silver headbands brought the 1920’s to life, and Anne’s dress was so beautifully simple and elegant that together with her veil and hairpiece (that her sister and her mother both wore for their weddings) she really did seem as if she had traveled back in time nearly 100 years, and yet her look was timeless.
The ceremony was held at the Hamilton Viewpoint Park, just down the road from The Sanctuary. The weather was clear and downtown Seattle carved the skyline behind them. Immediately after the ceremony we got a giant group picture of everyone that attended the wedding—it’s likely the most people in any one photograph that we’ve taken in the last five years. Shuttles carried the guests back to the reception while family formal photos were being taken.
The reception was like a taking a step back in time. The interior of The Sanctuary at Admiral is dark with art deco railings and beautiful wood trim. Still Blue, a four-piece jazz band, serenaded the guests and played for all the first dances, and a DJ took charge downstairs after dinner in the Speakeasy, where everyone let loose and had a great time.
A sparkler send-off capped off the evening as Anne & Scott were whisked away to the after-party in a vintage car.
